YEAR IN REVIEW. The annual report of the Manawatu Head Centre of the Royal Life-Saving , Society states, inter alia; —The executive regrets that while t.he awards show a substantial increase over those of last year the prevalent nose and. eye trouble made a large inroad into the numbers in many classes coming forward. The “learn-to-swim” week, postponed from last year, was held during the second week in December. Owing to most schools being in the throes of e.nd-of-the-year activities, this did not meet with the success it deserved, although several schools held special “weeks” of their own at more suitable times and much good work was done. We have to thank the following for donations to our funds:-—P.N. City Council, £2 2s; Manawatu branch, N.Z.A.S.A.. £1 Is; Mr J. Hodgens, M.P., 10s 6d. The financial statement shows a credit balance of £42, which should enable some good developmental work to be done during the coming year. It is with very deep regret that we have to record the passing of Mrs Collier, wife of Mr W. C. Collier, one of the foundation members of the branch and a real stalwart. We wish to thank all who in any way contributed to the work of the society during the past year, and ask for a continuance and extension of that help whether it Ire in substance, or in propaganda work, for the aims and objects of the society must appeal to all who have tho interests of their fellowmen at heart.
