EXTRADITION ORDER.
GRANTED BY MAGISTRATE. In the Magistrate’s Court yesterday, before Mr H. P. La wry, S.M., an application was made for an extradition order for the t-ransier of an accused person to Sydney. The charge was preferred against Leslie Francis Carter, aged 34, a motor driver, of Shannon, and was that on or about June 2, at Sydney, he stole £4 Os Bd, the property of his employer Alice Solomons, trading as the Federal Service Station. Mr A. M. Ongley appeared for accused, and Detective-Sergeant A. B, Meiklejohn conducted the case for the police. Mr Ongley said he was appearing only to see that' the warrant was in order and that accused was the right man. , .. . Constable N. P. Craig, of Sydney submitted the original warrant and (rave evidence that it was in order. Accused had said: “I am the man referred to.” Mr Meiklejohn gave evidence that on November 5 he saw accused at Shannon, accused saying he had been employed by Mrs Alice Solomons at the Federal Service at Redfern, Sydney Accused had explained that he had not committed theft from the firm but, as manager, had been held responsible for shortages in cash, even on shifts on which he had not been working. Witness applied for the extradition of accused to Sydney. The order was then made, that accused be handed ovjr to Constable Craig.
