LAND SETTLEMENT.
ENCOURAGING YOUNG FARMERS. AVith a view to encouraging young men to acquire land of their own, the New Zealand Federation of Young Farmers’ Clubs is seeking to formulate a scheme of land settlement for submission to the Government. At the recent annual meeting it was suggested that the Manawatu and South Taranaki District committees investigate the problem with a view to actually determining the extent of the need of such settlement and to formulate proposals for meeting that need ,and at yesterday’s meeting of the Manawatu committee the matter came forward for attention. Mr H. M. Linklater said the question was one of vital importance, and if the Young Farmers’ Club movement could do something towards getting young men on to the land they would be doing something really worth while. He said that he understood that the Auckland committee had a proposal, and on his suggestion it was decided to ask this committee for particulars. _ _ Messrs E. W. Barnett, J. B. Chrystall, H. M. Linklater H P Kay (State Advances Office) and 1 . G. Thevenard were appointed a committee to bring down a report.
