DEFENCE MEASURES.

AUSTRALIAN CO-OPERATION. Received October 20, 11.20 a.m. CANBERRA, Oct. 20. The acting-Prime Minister (Sir Earle Page) to-day outlined to the Federal Parliament the Commonwealth Government’s proposals for national co-opera-tion in defence and development. He said that to place Australia in, a position of security substantial expenditure would be necessary, both for actual defence equipment and industrial development in its widest sense. " ■ The Government proposed to suggest to the States that a Defence Advisory Committee should be established, comprising representatives of the various State Governments and industry.
