TRIBUTES PAID.

SERVICE TO EDUCATION. Before the commencement of business at the monthly meeting of the Terrace End School Committee, last night, the chairman (Mr W. B. Tennent) referred to the deaths of two valued workers for the. school —Mrs A. Barlow (Heretaunga Street) and Mr \V. B. Cameron. Mrs Barlow, added the speaker, had been a very active member of the ladies’ committee, and Mr Cameron had been for 10 years a member of the men’s committee, for the greater part of which he had served as chairman. The work Mr Cameron had done as chairman, proceeded Mr Tennent, had been as beneficial as any in the school’s history. He had always identified himself with anything that meant benefit for the ; young people. Mr Tennent said that it had been his privilege to sit beside Mr Cameron on the City Council, and while there Mr Cameron had always done his job efficiently 1 , despite ill-health. He felt that the school had lost' F a very great friend, who had made his, mark on the community. He moved Ijhat a letter of sympathy he sent to the the relatives of Mrs Barlow and of Mr Cameron. The headmaster of the school (Mr A. W. Thompson), in endorsing the remarks of the chairman) said on behalf of the staff, that they felt they had lost a great friend in Mr Cameron, who had done everything to make conditions pleasant. Mr Thompson said he personally was very grieved at the loss of Mr Cameron as he had seen most of the deceased gentleman’s children pass through the school. Mr Cameron had left behind a great example in public life, t Members stood in silence as a mark of respect.
