NOTES.
A billiards and snooker match was played on Saturday night at the R.S.A. Clubroom between teams representing the Paliiatua Fire Brigade and the Woodville R.S.A., the latter proving the winners. Scores were as follow, the local players being mentioned first: Snooker, Charles 39, Mackie 53, Miller 58, Wickes 23, total 173. Gowler 50, Jones 19, Collins 29, T. Morgan 72, total 170. Billiards, Charles 100, Mackie 100, Miller 100, Wickes 69, total 369. Gowler 80, Jones 68, Collins 34, Morgan 100, total 282. In the aggregate the scores were: Woodville 542, Pahiatua 452. The former won by 90 points. Mr W. Galbraith, president of the R.S.A., thanked the donor of the cup, Mr T. Munro. It had been won in the first round by Woodville. Mr Gowler responded. The next match will take place at Paliiatua. A demonstration on the making of mops and dusters from unravelled wool was given by Mrs Anderson, of Dannevirke, at tlie local Women’s Institute crafts class on Saturday afternoon. There was a good attendance, and Mrs Anderson was accorded thanks. Little Miss M. Buckingham, of the Hastings junior choir, which had been taking part in the Wellington competitions, delighted the ladies with her very pleasing rendering of two vocal items.
Winners at tlie card tournament at Ngawapurua on Saturday evening were as follow : —Flag 500, Mrs Hayes, Mrs J McPeak and Mr M. Judd; floating prizes, Mrs J. Charles, Mrs Gallow and Mr D. Cranfield. The dance music was supplied by Mrs McPeak and Mrs Williams. Mr G. Isakson was M.C.
