BULLS.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) BULLS, Aug. 24. The Rangitikei being a snow fed river, whitebait are not running yet in any quantity, though many people visited the lower reaches of the river during the week-end. In past seasons the run has not commenced until October. Mr E. M. Broughton, of Pahiatua, has taken up farming here. Mr M. R. Manseli, accountant at tho local branch of the Bank of New Zealand, has been transferred to Wanganui, and leaves next week, his place here being taken by Mr K. Gower, of Wangauni. . Rangitikei Golf Club championship games will be played in conjunction with a Stableford bogey on Saturday, the draw being as follows: G. 11. Clark v AT Shaw, A. K. Drew v. F. S. Collier, G. Nichoils v. W. Pearce, A. W. Amon v. K. IPearce, J. G. Mitchell v. R. O. Dalryniple, G. Drew v. K. Field, J. S. Tricker v. M. Willis, K. W. Dalrymple v. L. A. Sadler, G. Bertram v. E. Carter, R. J.’ Carter v. 'K. Wilson, R. Field v. G. D. Flower, R. F. Scott v. N. S. Prichard, R. Mackay v. scoror. Bulls and Wanganui Marists are drawn to play at Bulls on Saturday, but it is doubtful if the former can raise a team, so many players now being busy with farm occupations. Bulls juniors are still going strong, and have not been beaten this season. Measles and mild influenza are still prevalent in this district. Mr V. Edwards, who is an inmate of Wanganui Hospital, is reported to be making good progress. Mr A. W. Blanchard is also improving, and hopes to return home soon. Mrs W. Shepherd’s little girl has been operated on for appendicitis, and is progressing favourably.
