(From Our Own Correspondent.) OROUA DOWNS, Aug. 24. The weather conditions over tho weekend were very pleasing and the ladies’ golf medal round was much enjoyed. Miss Burne was tho winner. The draw for the ladies for next week-end is as follows: — Semi-final of the championship, Mrs A. T. Nichols v. Miss M. Scott, Mrs S. Howard v. Mrs R. G. Shailer. L.G.U. Medal: Mrs J. R. Ycalo v. Miss J. Jarvis, Miss M. Christensen v. Mies Burne, Miss I. Pedersen v. Miss G. Sexton, Miss C. Gates v. Miss P. Duffy, Mrs J. P. Connell v. Miss P. Gray, Mrs E. Conlan v. Mrs Brercton, Mrs. C. Pedersen v. partner. A men’s bogey competition was played and although tho weather and course were good, the pi ccne were Very tricky. Tho winner was A. T. Nichols, who was 3 down. Ycale, of Tiraumca, is spending a lew days with her parents, Mr and .Mrs J. R. Yealc, of Oroua Downs. Miss Katie Dench, of Oroua Downs, is the guest of Miss I. Proctor, of Kairanga, for a few days. Miss Ila Rivers, of Papatawa, has returned home after spending several days with Mrs Dench, of Oroua Downs. Mr and Mrs W. Cooke and family, of Auckland, are on holiday with Mr and Mrs J 5. Conlan. Mrs H. Rivers, of Papatawa, is visiting relatives and friends at Oroua Downs. It is with regret that the death of Mr T. : Tutty, of Oroua Downs, and formerly of Awahuri, -is recorded. Mr Tutty came to this district to take up farming just a year ago. Tho Oroua Downs branch of the Labour Party held their first euchre and dance, which was fairly well attendod. Miss J. Vealc rendered two songs. Mr J. P- Connell (president) introduced the Western Queen, Miss Ruby Adin, of Bainesso. The funds raised go towards the queen’s votes. Tho winners of the cards wore Mrs Albrey 1, Mrs J. Craig consolation; Mr N. Gray 1, Mr R. J- Withers consolation. A competition was won by Miss M. Christensen. Mr K. Board was M.C.
