PARLIAMENT

THE FINAL SESSION. OPENING ON TUESDAY. Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, June 24. Arrangements have been completed for the ripening of the final session of the present Parliament on Tuesday. The first' day'will be devoted to the customary ceremonial opening by the Governor-General, ’ Viscount Galway, who will read the Speech from the Throne. The Prime Minister (Rt. Hon. M. J. Savage) said to-night that, in view of the fact that there would be no obituaries of members or past members to commemorate for the first time in many years at the opening of a Parliamentary session, the House of Representatives would be able to begin its legislative work right away. The first measure for consideration on Wednesday, he said, * would be the Imprest Supply Bill, for which urgency would be taken, so that it could be put through all its stages at one sitting. The Address-in-Reply debate will open on Thursday night. In all probability the Address-in-lteply debate ■will occupy the House ot Representatives for some time, as it provides an opportunity for very wide discussion, and in view of the fact that this is a pre-election session, it is not likely that members on either side of the House will ignore the very generous opportunity which this occasion provides for talking on many things. “If we have any sins that have not been discussed after the Address-in-Reply debate, we must he pretty black,” Mr Savage said to-night. I( But the shot and shell won’t be going all one way,” he added. HONOUR FOR MR MOFFATT. The Leader , of the Legislative Council (Hon. M. Fagan) announced that the mover of the Address-in-Reply in the Legislative Council would be Hon. F. E. Lark (Auckland) and the seconder 'would be Hon. R. Moffatt (Palmerston North). Mr Fagan said that, as far as he could ascertain, it w'as the first occasion on record of a member of the Native race in the Council having moved or seconded the Address-in-Reply.
