REPLY TO BISHOP.
DRINKING AMONG MAORJS. Per Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, April 21. The opinion expressed by the Bishop of Aotearoa (Rt. Rev. F. A. Bennett) that the 40-hour week and the legislation that had created more leisure -time had caused an increase in excessive drinking among Maoris is not held by the secretary of the Maori community in Christchurch, Mr John Morgan. Mr Morgan said yesterday that Bishop Bennett was not qualified to make such an accusation, and it was doubtful whether ho had any information based on facts to support such a statement.
