CENTRE PAIRS COMPETITION. TERRACE END IN FINAL. The second round of the champion of champions pairs competition of the Manawatu Bowling Centre was resumed after the luncheon adjournment on Saturday on the Takaro Club’s green. Tiie lessened strength of the tricky winds towards the end of the first round removed a factor that was responsible for making accurate drawing difficult in the morning There are still five heads of the Northern-Foxton game to be played, and in all probability they will be completed on Saturday week. Then the winner will play Bailey and Gordon (Terrace End) in the filial. The game cannot be brought to a finish next'Saturday owing to both pairs being engaged in the champion of champions rinks contest. Results: Second round. —Takaro 21 v. Palmerston Nortli 14; Foxton 26 v. Levin 20; Terrace End 25 v. Shannon 15; Northern 23 v. Feilding 17. Semi-finals.—Terrace End 23 v. Takaro 14; Northern 15 v. Foxton 14 (uncompleted) at the 16th-'head. In the match between Terrace End and Takaro, scores were even for the first ten heads, then Terrace End led 9—B, but from then on the Takaro pair were outplayed. With three heads to go, the score was 23 —10 in Terrace End’s favour. Takaro scored one on the 19th and three on the 20th, and the last head was not played. Owing to failing light the semi-final between Foxton and Northern was not completed, only 16. heads being played. Northern took the first four heads, scoring a total of eight, and then Foxton scored a similar total on the next four heads.
