BULLS.
SWIMMING CARNIVAL. (From Our Own Correspondent.) BULLS, March 3. After several disappointments through unfavourable overhead and water conditions, the Bulls Swimming Club’s carnival was held on Wednesday evening, and Ihero was an attendance oP between 300 and 400 persons of all ages. A very enjoyable evening was spent in swimming, racing, and picnicking on the bank of the river. _Mr W. Rowell enlivened proceedings with radio; Mr J. Shepherd with accordion items; and other instrumentalists added to the success of tho community singing. Tea and other necessaries wero provided, and tho smooth running of the carnival reflected great credit on the organisers. Mr 11. 11. C. Holland, the president, addressed the gathering, referring to the setbacks which tho ciub had had, and said that the committee had shown great keenness in sticking to their task, bringing things to a successful issue. (Applause.) He read apologies from the patron (Mr O. Wilson, M.P.), and from Mr J. E. Walker (chairman of tho Town Board). Tho opening splash saw seme 50 persons enjoying themselves in the water, and racos were contested as follows: —Men, senior: F. Howard and R, Ingram (deadheat) *I, L. F. Homes 3. Ladies’ distance : M Kearney 1, Joy Ellery 2. Boys’ distance : Rex Ellery 1, James Walker and J. Howard (dead-heat) 2. Big splash: M. Meads 1, D. Reid 2. Tho president lit a huge camp fire, and supper and singing, -with the addition of a Maori quartette, followed. At the conclusion Mr Holland thanked members and others for coming along in such large numbers, and paid a tribute to the committee for their good work. BULLS, March 4. flnal of ihc series of twilight sports meetings was held on the Domain on g in line weather. Wing (each 23 points), dead-heat; ladies’ running, Miss Christian (35j points), 1; Mr Lower’s special cycling prize, J. Brider; boys’ cycling. Rex Ellery. At tho conclusion the competitors and committoos were entertained in Clifton Hall, tho ladies providing a sumptuous supper. _
