LOCAL BODY WORKERS.

BETTER PAY IN HAWKE’S BAY. Per Press Association. HASTINGS, March 4. • Substantial increases in the rates of pay and improved conditions for employees of borough councils and town boards are contained in a new agreement between the Hawke’s General Labourers’ Union and local body representatives. The new rates affect all classes of workers employed by local bodies in the province and are believed to be the best yet obtained for these types of workers. The agreemnt means that an extra £IOOO will be paid employees through the province after April 1. It covers the Hastings, Napier, Dannevirke, Waipawa, Waipukurau, Wairoa and AVoodville borough , councils and the Taradale and Havelock North town boards. % .
