RANGITIKEI.
AIARTON. March 4. The treasurer’s statement of accounts, which was presented at the Rangitikei County Council meeting, revealed that the debit balance after the last meeting’s payments had been made was £35,017 2s 9d, while payments since last meeting totalled £3,577 17s lOd, making a debit balance or £38,595 0s 4d. Receipts since last meeting amounted to £12,401 2s 8d (rates £9,133 18s Id) and sales of metal £1653 18s lid, leaving a debit balance before the present payments of £26,193 17s lid. These payments totalled £6,051 10s 6d, making a debit balance of £32,245 8s sd. .Loan payments are nil. “I am .informed, that the issue of drivers’ licenses will be left in the hands of local bodies for this year, and that you can act accordingly,” stated a telegram from tho member tor the district (Mr Ormond Wilson) in reply to a question on the matter.
Mr AV. Rankin presided at the annual meeting of the Marton Miniature Rifle Club, when the balancesheet disclosed a credit of £3 9s lid. The report stated, inter alia, that the B grade team was successful in reaching the semi-finals in the Manawatu Association’s cliampinships. The chain, pi on shot for the -season was A. F. Tanft'e, with AV. Rankin runner-up The handicap aggregate was won by C. McGregor with E. Livingstone runner-ni). The officers for the ensuing -•ear are:—Patron: Mr Ormond Wilson, M.P., president. Miller and H. Gordon; markers, Messrs A. Taaffe and AV. Rankin; delegates to the Manawatu Association, Messrs J. Hammond and AA 7 . Rankin; auditor, Mr A. J. B. Sicely; committee. Messrs C. Hamer, H. Gordon, F. McConkey, E. Miller, E. Livingstone, A. l’aaffc, and tlie president, secretary, treasurer, caotain, and vice-captain. It was resolved to issue a challenge for the McKelvie Cup. which is at present held by the Fcilding Club. Affiliation is again to be made with the Manawatu Association, and it was also decided to affiliate with the AVniiganui Association for the postal shoots.
