BARCELONA AIR RAIDS.
INQUIRIES FROM BRITAIN. OFFICIAL VISIT LIKELY. LONDON, Feb. 22. “Why do you not come and see for yourselves?” said the Mayor of Barcelona when British officials questioned him about air raids. It is understood that the invitation will be accepted. Officers will visit Spain to study tile matter on the spot. General Franco’s refusal to accept the British suggestions to abandon the bombing of civilians indicates a chance of fresh material lor examination.
The Mayor of Barcelona explained that the only adequate protection was very deep and very strongly-built underground shelters. Cellars "under houses were mere death-traps. If a bomb of the new type dropped in Piccadilly Circus, people in Regent Street would probably be found in pieces later on tho top of high buildings several streets away.
