FIFTEEN DEAD.
FOOTBRIDGE COLLAPSES. LOS ANGELES, ATarch 3. It is believed fifteen were drowned when a 250-foot wooden footbridge collapsed while a number of spectators were watching the Los Angeles River floodwatc-rs, caused by a severe storm, racing to tbe ocean. It is feared that a ’plane on the way to Los Angeles from San Francisco crashed during the height of the storm, and nine lives were lost. Alore than 100 landslides occurred, one of which engulfed a bus loaded with passengers 50 miles from here. Five inches of ram I ell yesterday, making ten inches in four days. Northern California lias also reported flood conditions. Alelting snows and heavy rains have swollen many rivers until now they arc raging torrents threatening communications. All traffic to Los Angeles is blocked bv landslides.
