HOKOWHITU PICNIC.
SUNDAY SCHOOL PUPILS. About forty pupils of tlie Hokowliitu Sunday school spent a happy time at their annual picnic, which was held at the Hokowliitu Domain. Races and a picnic tea were enjoyed, the children also taking part in a novel “lolly chase.” A friend disguised as an oid woman caused much amusement and pleasure by distributing surprise packets. Rev. F. S. Ramson, who was present with Mrs Ramson, presented a book to each child who had attended the Sunday school during the year, special prizes being awarded as follow:—Highest marks (1936): Girls, Kara Ornberg 1, Eileen Tucker 2; boys, Eric Ornberg 1, Dudley Woodroofe 2. Highest marks (1937): Girls, Diana Roberts 1, Kara Ornbeg 2; boys, Eric Ornberg 1, W. Roberts 2. Scripture essay: Girls, Pauline Huntington 1, Kara Ornberg 2; boys, Eric Ornberg 1, W. Roberts 2. Mr Ramson thanked the two retiring teachers, Mrs H. Sylvester and Mrs W. S. Woodroofe, for their services, also for their work in connection with the picnic, assisted by the mothers of the children.
