ABRAHAM AND WILLIAMS AND WRIGHT, STEPHENSON. Abraham and Williams, Ltd., in conjunction with Wright, Stephenson and Co., Ltd., report:— The quota for this sale was 28,000 bales, but many growers wore not pqrcparcd to accept the present market prices and a considerable quantity of wool wan withheld in anticipation of better times. Our catalogue comprised 5150 bales, which met with very keen and animated competition, with prices down from Id to lJ>d on those ruling at the last January sale in Wanganui. The trend of the market has had a falling tendency since the sales opened after the New Year, and yesterday’s sale showed a decided firming on prices realised at the previous sale held early in the week. Once again the Continental section of tho trade secured the bulk of the purchases, with Bradford showing very strong competition while Japan was again practically out of the market.
