(From Our Own Correspondent.) OTAKI, Feb. 23. On the Municipal Croquet Club's lawns yesterday, competitions were won by Mrs George Evans (French), Mrs Watson (golf), and Mrs F. Southgate( croquet in the sun). Thanks to the Rev. Father Dunning and others a pleasing entertainment was given at the Otaki Sanatorium on Monday night. A deputation recently waited on Mr E. P. Edwards, asking him to contest the Mayoralty. Mr Edwards declined the honour; others arc now being approached. A start was made to-day to improve the entrance to the Utaki railway station. Mr H. Palmer, who has been in Australia will spend three weeks in Otaki beloro returning home. In a cricket, match between the Palmurpton North Hospital team and an Otaki team the Hospital leant made 97 in their Minings. For Otaki, Davidson contributed 46 out of a total of 169, while Ralph scored ■O less than 74 (retired).
