CYCLIST KILLED.

STRUCK BY TRAIN. Per Press Association. TIMARU, Feb. 21. While cycling alonp; the main line at the southern end of the Timaru railway yards shortly before 2 o'clock this afternoon, Mr James McKeowen, a storeman of the locomotive department, was struck by the north-bound express and killed instantly. He was a married man with six children. It stated that Mr McKeowen, who was transferred to Timaru from Invercargill only last month, was cycling alongside'the main line and in the same direction as the train. He was carrying a hydrant over his shoulder, and is said to have been in the act of stopping the bicycle when'he "was struck by the engine.
