GAOL FOR ARSON.
Per Press Association. TIMARU, Feb. 5. Philip John Thomas, a married man, a~surfaceman, was sentenced by MiJustice Northcroft to three months' imprisonment for arson. His Honour said: “Had it not been for the manner in which you persisted in proceeding with your defence I would have extended probation. Your attitude in the box showed you to be irresponsible.”
