WOMEN'S INSTITUTE.

MEETING AT GLEN OROUA

Although there was only a fair attendance of members at the December meeting of the Glen Oroua Women’s Institute, the programme was a very enjoyable one.- The president (Mrs Thompson) extended a warm welcome to all members. Apologies for , absence were received from Mrs R. Boyce and Miss Smith. The question of exhibiting at the Feilding Show caused a general discussion, members deciding, that it would be worth while to endeavour to make an entry. It was decided to leave the arrangements for the picnic till the next meeting. Mrs Foster read a most interesting letter from Mrs Creighton Smith, of Fishbourne.

Tho competition for an iced Christmas cake was won by Mrs C. Hamlin, with Miss Vallanger second and Mrs W. Boswell and Mrs Vallanger third. Best bloom: Miss W. Kempton 1, Mrs J. Wheeler 2, Mrs Ihle 3. Mrs Barker and Miss Mead were tho judges. Mrs W. Boswell was first and Mrs T. Lawlor second in the card party. Afternoon tea was served by the hostesses, Mesdames Woodhouso and Cornwell, and Miss Kempton. Mrs Thompson thanked Mrs Barker and Miss Mead for judging the competition and wished all a very happy Christmas, and thanked them for having cooperated and helped her through the year.
