Referring to the treasurer s report, the chairman stated that the position had improved since payment from the Highways Board had been received. Reference was made by Cr Campbell to the growth of broom in front of ratepayers’ property, and he said that unless steps were taken by them to

control it action would have to be taken by the council to compel them to do so. Seasonal greetings were extended to councillors and the council’s staff by the chairman, who said that much work had been accomplished by the council, and had it not been- for delays in receiving financial authority to proceed with its programme even better results would have been obtained. He hoped that the road sealing work in the county would be completed by the end of the financial year. The speaker also thanked the Press for the manner in which the meetings of the council had been reported. Cr Green reciprocated the sentiments expressed by the chairman, and said he appreciated the untiring efforts of Cr Campbell in connection with the council’s affairs. The amount of time and thought Cr Campbell had given to council matters had i saved members 'much work.
