LOCAL SIDE WINS.

The .annual cricket match between teams representing the Masterton and Palmerston North Technical High Schools, which was commenced on the Grey Street ground on Monday, was concluded yesterday, Palmerston North winning on the first innings. The frequent falls of rain finally caused a cessation of play, although several attempts were made to continue.

The opening day found Palmerston North taking first strike for 135 and at the close of play Masterton liad lost six wickets for 36. Yesterday the visitors, who continued their innings, were dismissed for 57. Palmerston North’s second innings was worth 37 and at stumps Masterton had lost four wickets for 59. TENNIS PLAY MARRED. Rain .also spoiled the annual tennis tournament between teams from the two schools, only the singles being played, as a consequence. The sets played resulted in Palmerston North winning 5 singles and the visitors 1.
