ATTITUDE OP ALLIANCE. Per Press Association. HASTINGS, Dec. 6. Referring further to his recent statement regarding the attitude of the New Zealand- Alliance to afterhour hotel cases, Mr H. W. Milner (general superintendent of the alliance) corrected the statement published: “That it was not the duty of the ailia.nce to give evidence enabling the police to secure convictions.” He pointed out that the concluding sentence of his statement was: “The New Zealand Alliance will assist the better enforcement of the law in every way possible, but it is the work of the police'to gather evidence and to secure convictions to restrain the law-break-ing.”
