WARNING ISSUED.

BY, LICENSING COMMITTEE. Stating that there had been suggestions that the licensee had been found under the influence of liquor, the chiurman of the Palmerston Licensing Committee (Mr J. L. Stout, S.M.) issued a warning, at the quarterly meeting of the committee yesterday, to S. W. R. Evans, licensee of the Princess Hotel, that if lid did not mend his ways beforei the next annual meeting he would probably find himself without a license. The chairman called upon the licensee to give an explanation. The licensee stated that he had been celebrating the christening of his first grandson, but had still been quite capable of conducting the hotel. Police-Inspector Cummings stated that when he had called at the hotel, he had noticed the licensee under the influence of liquor. The licensee was in a drunken condition and in a state of coma, while an unlicensed woman was serving in the bar; tfiere being no control over the hotel. The christening of the grandchild was becoming far too 'frequent. The chairman informed the licensee that the committee had had trouble with him some years ago. They were going to give him another chance and, if lie did not mend llis ways before the next annual meeting of the committee lie Would probably find himself without a license. He could take that as a Warning.
