THREE PERSONS INJURED.
LEVEL CROSSING ACCIDENT. Three persons were injured when a motor car was struck by the New Plymouth express at the Bonny Glen level crossing, about three miles from Marten, on Saturday afternoon. The injured persons are:—Mrs G. Ross, of Auckland, concussion. Conodition serious. Mr George Thomas, of Gonville. Cuts and abrasions. Condition satisfactory. Mrs G. Thomas, of Gonville, cuts and abrasion. Condition satisfactory. The car was driven by Mr Thomas, who did not notice tire approach of the train until he was almost on the crossing. It appears that lie was endeavouring to reverse the car off the line when the engine stalled. The locomotive struck the front of the car and, after turning the vehicle completely around, hurled it into a ditch on the opposite side of the road. Mrs Ross was thrown through the back corner of the hood over a fence and into a ditch alongside the line. Before the arrival of a doctor from Marion first aid was given to the injured persons by two New Plymouth nurses and constables who were passengers on the train and by Miss Myers, of Marion. The injured people were conveyed to the Wanganui Hospital. The car was almost completely wrecked.
