MAKINO.
(From Our Own oCrrespondont.) MAKINO, Nov. 24. For the fortnightly “500” touVnament and dance there was only a fair attendance. However, the games proved very interesting, the prizes being awarded to Mr and Mrs W. D. R. Baker, and Mr S. Schrieber, the travelling flag going to Mrs E. Yautier, of Colyton. ■ Music for dancing was contributed by Mr A. Roberts. After presenting the prizes, which were donated by the Hall Committee, Mr Baker,. chairman, announced that as everybody was very busy at present, the committee had decided to bring the card season to a close. He thanked all present and those who had patronised the evenings during the winter months, also friends from neighbouring districts, the ladies who had provided the supper, and the local musicians, who had played -for the dances Mr C. L. Hunter, M.P. for Manawatu, stayed with Mr and Mrs E. Petty re cently. Mrs J. Bray, of Taonui, has been spending a few days with Mi’s L. Turner, of Makino. Mrs Vincent, senr., of Pajmerston North, who hap been
staying with her son, Mr C. Vincent, has .now returned to her home. Mrs J. Tocker, of Eltham, has returned home after spending three weeks with her parents, Mr and Mrs J. Amc. Mr \V P. Bickers, “Ridgelands,” who has been judging at the Stratford Show, has now returned. Mr and Mrs N. Bickers and their son, Ron of Taihape, are tho guests of Mr and’Mrs W. P. Bickers. Mr and Mrs W. Popps, of Paraparaumu, who are motoring through to Auckland, spent a tew days with Mr and Mrs J. Cummings. Friends of Mr and Mrs Podjursky will regret to learn that their eon, Georg©, is at present an inmate in the Palmerston North Hospital. Miss J. Nairn spent a few days with Mrs, E. McGruer, West Street, Feilding, recently.
