PIG BREEDERS MEET.
MANAWATU-OROUA BRANCH. The monthly meeting of the Mana-watu-Oroua branch of the Pig Breeders’ Association took place yesterday. Mr G. M. Whitelock presided and others present were: Messrs B. B. Zurcher, E. P. B. Bockett and C. S. Hunt. ' ■ The Manawatu and West Coast Agricultural and Pastoral Association wrote asking for a contribution towards the cost of ■ renovation to the breeders’ buildings which _ had been damaged during the hurricane _ last year. — It was decided to contribute £3 3s. Speaking of the matter of the establishment of testing stations, Mr Nielsen said that as it had been proved that feeding had a very distinct influence on carcase production, and as it was essential to feed the animals heavily in the early stages of their growth to gain successful C.O.P. remits, he thought they should be very careful mooting any movement for testing stations. The functions of such stations were fully covered by the decided to hold the branch’s sale in March. The matter of holding a show in connection with the sale was held over.
