EASY WIN

NEW SOUTH WALES. DOMINION CRICKETERS BEATEN LAST MATCH OF TOUR. (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) SYDNEY, Nov. 22. The New Zealand cricketers lost the last match of their tour when New South Wales defeated them by the comfortable margin of eight wickets. New South Wales did not secure victory, however, before they had experienced some uneasy moments as the result of a fine opening attack by Cowie. A pleasing feature of the match was the way some of the New Zealanders handled O’Reilly’s bowling. When the game resumed to-day nearly an hour late owing to rain the wicket was not affected, but as the foothold was uncertain for fast bowlers O’Reilly, Jackson and White continued the attack. Hadlee stepped out fearlessly and smote each of these to the 1 boundary. The total reached 200 in 182 minutes and with Tindill showing a strong defence a 50 partnership for the ninth wicket was realised after 43 minutes. Hadlee was batting very confidently when he edged one and Oldfield took his fourth catch of the innings. Hadlee batted 75 minutes and hit seven fours. Tindill was dismissed without any addition to the score, and New South Wales was left with 136‘runs to make to win. New Zealand’s innings occupied 207 minutes. Cowie and Carson opened the bowling in New South Wales’s second innings and in the former’s second over he secured the wickets of Cheetliam and McCabe. . As in the first innings, Cowie bowled McCabe with a ball that swung in. McCabe, who is in splendid form this season, having scored several centuries in grade games, was completely beaten by the pace and swing of the ball With the total at two for 5, Cowie had two for 1. . „ j. , Fingleton and Chipperfield then became associated and secured the necessarys runs for victory. The pair batted very carefully until 50 was passed. They then opened out and scored all round the wicket. The howling,, apart from Cowie, lacked sting. Parsloe was not put on until ttie total was 82 and then Unly for one OV During this over there was a peculiar incident. Chipperfield swung vigorously, missed, fell on the pitch and rolled on his wicket which was broken. Parsloe appealed hrst to one and then the other umpire, but Chipperfield was given not out. ine umpires apparently ruled that the batsman bad completed the stroke before breaking the wicket. Eight bowlers were given a turn, but runs came quickly at the end. Clu PPefield batted for 100 minutes, hie score including eight fours, and Fingleton for 119 minutes for five fours.
