VICTORY FOR WELLINGTON

Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, Aug. 29. In a medicore match, much below the usual New Zealand standard of interprovincial Rugby football, Wellington beat Otago on a hal'd, dry ground at Athletic Park on Saturday by 12 points to six. About 8000 spectators attended. Otago scored within a minute of the kick-off, when Taylor secured a penalty goal. Only a few minutes later the Wellington half-back, O’Halloran set the score level, and it remained so until half-time, Wellington attacking constantly, with the advantage in both the scrums and lineEarly in the second half O’Halloran potted a pretty goal. The Wellington backs launched a vigorous oftensive and made a series of well-concert-ed movements, and finally Thurston scored a try, which Crisp converted. When Wellington were penalised for lifting, Taylor again scored, but the game ended lvith Wellington still comfortably leading.
