ACTION AT WAIPUKURAU

WAIPUKURAU, Aug. 26. Mr T C A llislop, leader of the Democrat Party at the 1935 General Election, was sued by the Waipukurau Borough Council, represented by Air A M White, at to-days sitting of tlie * Waipukurau Magistrate’s Court, before Mr J. Miller, S.M. The amount sued for was the rental of the Waipukurau Municipal Theatre, which it was alleged was engaged by Air Hislop for a meeting which ho conducted there during the election campaign The hull was booked tor Mr llislop l,v the Waipukurau Democrat candidate, Air W, L. Barker. The Magistrate therefore, disagreed ivitli the contention that Mr Hislop was responsible, saying that Mr Barker should he sued. Air White agreed to take tiiis course and the case was adjourned until October.
