WELLINGTON STOCK EXCHANGE.

YESTERDAY’S BUSINESS AND PRICES. Business was quiet on the Wellington Stock Exchange yesterday, recorded dealings again being confined almost wholly to industrial and trading issues. Prices were little changed, tho tone of the market being generally steady. There was a keen demand for Government loans at firm rates. Little interest was shown in bank shares, the only inquiry being for New Zealand ordinaries, which were firm at. 44s 9d, sellers 50s. Financial and pastoral, insurance, and gas shares were also neglected. Buyers of National Insurance wero offering 18s 2d. There was again a good demand for moat-freezing issues, which were generally firm, sellers keeping out. Huddarfc Parker ordinaries had dealings at 43s 6d and more wero wanted at that price; the preference had unsupported buyers at 28s 6d. Union Steam preference wero steady at 26s 3d, and P. and O. deferred were wanted at 38s. Brewery issues showed a firmer tendency, Dominion moving to 42s 3d and Tooths to 55s 3d without response. Staples were strong at 52s 9d, sellers Is higher. New Zealand were steady at 49s 9d, sellers 50s 3d. Miscellaneous industrial a.nd trading issues were generally steady. YESTERDAY’S QUOTATIONS.
