METHODIST CHURCH. (From Our Own Correspondent.) APITI, Aug. 28. A meeting of the Methodist Guild was held on Wednesday afternoon in the church vestry. There were present Mesdames Coombridge, J. Mapson, W. R. Pratt, and Miss Rigby. Mrs Coombridge read an interesting extract about the work of Rev. Gina in the Solomon Islands. The use of the money raised at a recent social evening was decided upon. A decision was also made with regard to church crockery. A busy time was then spent cleaning, out the vestry cupboards. A social competition was won by Mrs J. Mapson. There is a scheme afoot for beautifying the church grounds, and on Friday afternoon Mr Coombridge, assisted by Ken. McMillan, spent a busy afternoon planting trees. Some flowering and ornamental shrubs ■were planted and two new hedges put in. PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH. Tho Apiti home mission district contributed £2B 4s 3d to tho recent Maori Mission appeal; £l7 of this sum was actually contributed by Apiti members. GENERAL. Cream collecting now takes, place foul times a week, which is a certain indication that the cows are coming in. Present supplies compare favourably with supplies for the same time last year. It will not be long now before tho factory is in tu swing. Boby calf lorries now work the district with full loads twice a week. PERSONAL. Mr and Airs Raymond Watkins spent a day or two with Air and Airs G. AVatkins, and left yosterday for their homo in btratford.
