POULTRY, PRODUCE AND PIGS

The Dominion Auctioneering Coy., Palmerston North, reports as follows The quantities of fruit offering have fallen a little during the past week. There have been increased prices for all lines. Vegetables are still in good supply and the prices firm on last week’s rates. There is a very keen clearance of all lines was made at very demand for poultry at present and a total satisfactory prices. A very large yarding of pigs came forward, an excellent demand for all lines prevailing, and a total clearance was made under very keen competition. We quote as follows Friut. —Oranges, 21s to 24s per case; lemons, 20s lo 25s 6d, others 15s to 19s per case. Pears: Winter Coles, 8s 6d to 10s 6d per three-quarter case: cooking pears, from 7s to 9s per three-quarter case. Applies: Delicious, from 8s to 10s per bushel; Bailarats. 6s 6d to 9*3 per bushel; Sturmcrs, 6s to 8s per bushel; Granny Smiths, 8s to 10s Id per bushel; Doughctries, 6s to 7s 3d; Washingtons, 6s to 7s per bushel. Hothouse tomatoes, from Is to Is Id per lb; parsnips, 3s to 4s 6d per sugar bag; rhubarb, 7s 6d to 10s 6d per dozen; cauliflowers, best from 7s to 12s 6u per bag, seconds, from 3s to 6s per bag; cabbage, from 5s to 8s per sack; spinach, 8s to 10s per ca.se: pumpkins, 14s to 16s 6d per sack; onions, 5s to 9s per cental: marrows, 6s to 10s per case; lettuce, 4s to 14s 6d per case; kumoras, 7-s to 8s 6d per bag; carrots, 3s to 4s 6d per sugar hag: celery, from 11s to 18s per ease; beetroot, Is it} 2s per dozen.

Poultry.—Heavy cockerels, 7s 6d lo 9s 6d per pair; light breeds, 6s to 7s 6d per pair: fat roosters, 6s 6d to 8s per pair; light roosters, 5s to 7s per pair; light 8.0. hens, 7s to 8s 2d per pair; White Leghorn liens, 6s to 7s per pair; light hens, 4s to 6s per pair: ducks, 5s to 7s per pair; geese, 3s 6d each; pullets, from 2s 6d to 5s 6d each.

Pigs.—Weancrs, 12s to 18s oach; slips. 20s to 21s each; stores. 20s to 24s each; light porkers, 34s lo 38s each; sows to farrow, 60s, 695, 80s; sows and litter, £6 10s to £lB 10s; medium fat lambs, 20s.

An interesting feature of the market for dairy cattle in the Waikato this season has been the increased interest shown in Iho heavier breeds, of cattle which have been selling from £2 to £2 10s above the values reached for this class last year. At, Waikato yards this season and at the clearing sales there Ims been exceptionally keen interest shown in tiic heavy breeds and a possible explanation of this demand is the greater quantity of milk required for pig raising purposes.
