MANAWATU SOCIETY
ANNUAL MEETING
The animal meeting of the Man.awatu Co-operative Building Society (terminating), was held last evening, the chairman of directors (Mr G. B. Cope) presiding. An apology for unavoidable absence was received from Mr G. D. Pattle, a member of the directorate.
In moving the adoption «of the report (already published), the chairman pointed out. that . since the society’s inception there had been £167.468 advanced, and with a further £4500 to be advanced that night the total would be £171,968. The motion, seconded by Mr \V. H. Wilson, was carried. For the election of directors Mr G. H. Neal took the chair and he declared Messrs Cope and G. G. Priest, the retiring directors, re-elected. These were the only nominations. Both directors returned thanks for the expression of confidence.. Mr R- W. Priest was reappointed auditor. Messrs Neal and "Wilson were appointed scrutineers for the draw, which resulted; —Group 1 (ballot), W. A. Boniface (Palmerston North), £700; group 2 (ballot), J. E. Clark (hoxton) £IOO, Mrs Clark (Foxton) £IOO, P. D. Daniell (Wellington) £300; group 3 (ballot), A. N. Brighton (Dannevirke) , £700; group 4 (tender), £4OO at £ls; group 5 (tender). £4OO at £l2; group 6 (tender). £7OO at £22; group 7 (tender), £SOO at £24.
Mr Cope thanked his fellow directors for their assistance during the past year. He also proposed a vote of thanks to the secretary, Mr v W. C. Harrington, and his staff. This was carried by aclamation.
