AWAHOU.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) AWAHOU, July 22. ®rho fine weather experienced early last week gavo way to wintry conditions again towards the week-end. ■ Grass is now getting scarce and supplementary crops arc proving very beneficial. Hedge-hogs arc well established in this district and are to bo found in almost every garden. Opossums are also numerous and are quite cheeky; if fruit is left in an open box they make a nightly raid. Mrs Linklater and Mrs VVeekes were recent visitors to Palmerston Norih. Mrs Harper is staying with Mrs White at Porangabau. Mrs M. Loamy is on holiday at Waipukurau. Mrs Reed is visiting relatives at Awahon North. Miss R. Fenwick spent the week-end with her sistei - , Mrs W. Smart. Recent holiday travellers were Mr IT. Fitzherbert to Packakariki and Mr R. Harper to Porangahau. After several months’ sojourn in New Zealand Mrs and Miss Passey have returned to Australia. Miss M. Fitzherbert, of Huntervillo, paid a short visit to hor home in Awahou South recently. Miss D. Montgomery is staving with her parents during tho school holidays.
