Fire destroyed the residence of Air J. LTerdman, at. Glen Oroua. shortly before mid-day yesterday. Although the origin is hot known, it is thought that tlie fire mav have started from the chimney. Mrs Herdman was cooking dinner at the time. The insurances on the house are not known., while the furniture was not insured. Neighbours were on the scene, however, in time to carry most of the furniture to safety.
