PACIFIC SHIPPING.

UNITED STATES AND CANADA. NEGOTIATIONS RUMOURED. Received Julv 20, 10.30 a.m. SAN FRANCISCO. July 19. It is rumoured oil the waterfront that the Matson Line is negotiating with Canadian shipping interests for a demarcation of spheres in the Pacific traffic. It is believed that they may arrange a common call in at Tahiti in order to anticipate a French line’s installation of a Tahiti-North American service.

It is also believed that plans arc being discussed possibly to anticipate manoeuvring by Japanese lines whereby the latter would obtain some HawaiiUnited States traffic by carrying passengers from Honolulu to Lower California, which is Mexican and not far from Los Angeles. Efforts to confirm the rumours are unavailing. Tile officials of the lines concerned remain unapproachable.
