CARNARVON.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) CARNARVON, June 3.
At tho invitation of the AVanganui Education Board a well-attended meeting was held in tho hall. Mr Mansell, chairman of tho Clydesdale School Committee, introduced Mr Batchelor, the board representative, and asked him to take the chair. Mr Batchelor explained that the meeting was called for the board’s representatives to place before the parents the advantages of consolidation. Mr Bodon, 'senior inspector, pu forth his views both from personal experience and also from the board’s point of view. He then called upon Mr G. N. Boulton, secretary of the board, to give inoro information. After a lengthy address lie closed with a very good ease for consolidation from the board’s point of view. However, finality will not be reached for some time, as it is necessary, according to rules, to tako a postal ballot of all parents who lmvo children attending the school. After that, tho matter will bo dealt with by tho board and finally by tho Minister of Education. As there are about 22 out of 28 of the scholars in primer 1 to standard 2 the parents arc very reluctant to let them travel. Also at the meeting wore Mr Herrington, inspector, and Mr Barfitt, a member of tho staff. Mr Mansell thanked tho members for their courteous rseponsc. _ Mr and Mrs Wrightson, of Oliingaiti, and Mr and Mrs N. Barron, of Beaconsfield, are staying with Mrs P. Scott. Mr S. Hodge intends going to Mastcrton for tho dog trials. Mr P. Scott has left for Rotorua and hopes to benefit in health.
