SHELLING OF ALMERIA. • CONTROL SCHEME BLAMED. GUARANTEES WANTED. (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) Received June 5, 10.45 a.m. VALENCIA, June 4. The Government is sending a Note to the Non-Intervention Committee protesting against the bombardment of Atmeria and reserving all rights concerning damage and injury caused. The Note says that the attack on Alnieria was committed in consequence ol tiie control seneme. It also claims 1 rom non-intervention countries guaran; tees lor ensuring that tiie exercise of tlie indisputable right to accomplish acts oi war within tlie seas and ports of the republican territory will not entail similar incidents.
PATROL OFF SPAIN. PROPOSALS FOR SAFETY ZONE. LONDON, June 4. The diplomatic correspondent of the Times says that British proposals communicated to France, Germany and Italy provide for : First, an extended system of safety zones in Spanish waters, which the Spanish contending forces should be pledged strictly to observe. Secondly, immediate consultation between England,. Prance, Germany and Italy in tne event of any future attack upon any of them, based on the principle that tlie. lour fleets are performing a common international duty which invests them* with a common responsibility. The representative of the Spanish Government (Senor Del V ayo) conferred in Paris with the Prime Minister (Ai. Leon ilium) and the Minister of Foreign Affairs (M. Y’von Delbos) and gave tlie fullest assurance that the loyalists would prevent incidents likely to produce lurther international tension.
He also pleaded strongly for the withdrawal of volunteers lrom Spain as the only means of shortening the struggle. The Berlin correspondent of the Times says that the German Government, having made its reprisal, is willing to find a solution enabling it to rejoin the international control scheme.
The British treatment of the Deutschladn’s wounded, including the dispatch of nurses by air, is greatly appreciated in Berlin.
