RED CROSS SOCIETY.

ANNUAL MEETING

At the annual meeting of the New Zealand Red , Cross Society’s counc’l in Wellington, last week, tributes were paid to. the president, Mrs T. H. Lowry, 0.8. E., who was re-elected to office, for the work, she had carried out on behalf of the society. Dr, A. Gillies was elected Dominion chairman. Sister Stranger’s report for the year was adopted, and she was appointed for another 12-month term.

The president reported that arrangements had been made with the League of Red Cross Societies in Paris to send Mr de Gielgud through New Zealand, from Auckland about September 20. He is the under-secretary for the league, and will have a vionth in the Dominion. .

Mrs Lowry and S'ster Stringer were renested by the council to accompany Mr de Gielgud throughout his tour. Dr. Gillies may be able to join the tour for part of. the time.
