STRANDED BOY.
PASSAGE ARRANGEAIENTS. Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, April 9. Referring to Gordon 'Beehre, the Auckland hoy reported to he stranded at Melbourne, the Auckland office of the Huddnrt-Parker Company stated that the hoy’s passage was hooked by nis guardian in Auckland, presumably the aunt referred to in the cable, who also made arrangements with a passenger on board the AA’anganella to look after him on the voyage. Children are not allowed to travel in the company’s vessels, it was stated, except under the charge of an adult. No advice of the lad’s plight had been received by the company’s office in Auckland, and the name and address of the person who had booked the lad’s passage were not known. It was stated by an uncle of Gordon Beehre that on the day the AVanganolla left Auckland he had received word from the hoys’ parents that they were going from Alelhourne to Sydney- and to postpone the journey for a week. It was too late to cancel the passage and lie had sent the parents a cablegram c/o the Sydney Post Office. He had not received a reply and did not know the boy had not found his parents.
