MOTHERS’ UNION.
ST. PETER’S BRANCH. The monthly meeting of St. Peter's branch of the Mothers’ Union was held yesterday afternoon, Rev. F. S. Ramson presiding. A letter was received from Mrs T. R. Moore thanking the members for their sympathy in her recent bereavement. Misses Gwen Smith and Lola Buiclc delighted members with a pianoforte duet. Afternoon tea was served by Mesdames V. M. Bee and M. R. Bee. The speaker for the afternoon, Rev. W. Langston, dealt with the mother’s part in the religious teaching of children. He spoke of the wonderful privilege the mother had of training her child to the higher and greater things of life, especially in its first years, and pointed out that the ideas and thoughts of the child were not silly but contained a great deal of truth. In the opinion of Mr Lfbigston it was never too early to start training the child in the way it should go and the parents would find that in later years their children would turn back and cling to these early teachings and beliefs. On the motion of Mr Ramson a vote of thanks was accorded the speaker.
