PAHIATUA.
PAHIATUA. March 30. Mr and Mrs W. Cobb have left Paliiatua for a month’s holiday to be s]>ent in Wellington and Nelson. Mr Y. Hitchcock, of Wellington, will relieve the Clerk of the Court. Mr Cobb, whilst the latter is on holiday. Miss 11. Jury, of Fcatherston, won tile saddle presented by Mr D. Piper for the lady rider gaining the most points in tlie ladies’ and o|xm events at. the Pahiatua horse sports on Easter Monday. The death occurred, at the Pahiatua Hospital on Sunday morning, of Mr J. J. Thompson who was for many years a resident of the district. The deceased gentleman, who contracted pneumonia, was a returned soldier. He was badly gassed during the war. and it is thought likely that this proved a serious factor in his illness. Mr Thompson is survived by a widow and four children.
