ENGLISH BOXER’S VISIT.

SEARCH FOR HEAVYWEIGHT. On the look-out for a heavyweight in the Dominion with sufficient talent to make it worth while taking him back to England, Johnny Summers, the famous British boxer and at one time holder of the Lonsdale Belt, has arrived at Gisborne from the Homeland. His stay in New Zealand may be of some duration, for Summers is very keen to secure a suitable New Zealand boxer. Summers retired from the ring about ten years ago, but. since then he has had seven years of refereeing, and has done a vast amount of coaching. Whether his protege turns out to be a pakeha or a Maori seems to be immaterial to Summers, who, however, has stated that box}'- enthusiasts in Great Britain wouiil ue keen to see a Maori champion.
