FARMING NEWS

DAIRY PRODUCE. BUTTER OUTLOOK MORE OPTIMISTIC. LONDON, March 27. The butter market is definitely more optimistic. There has been abnormal holiday activity, with Kangaroos selling up to 101 s a cut., and finest Now Zealand as high as 102 s. The statistical position is much sounder, and current annuls are insufficient to meet the demands of trade which has been stimulated by the extraordinarily keen competition ol the larger retail multiple stores which aro selling butter as low as lOd a lb, almost the margarine price. Similar conditions obtain for cheese, which has sold so cheaply that the interim reserve stocks have been heavily depleted, while arrivals aro barely sufficient for current requirements.
