MEDICAL CONFERENCE.
RECEPTION HELD.
A reception was held at the National Art Gallery, Wellington, last night-, in conjunction with the British Medical Association’s conference, the Mayor of Wellington (Mr T. C. A. Hislop) presiding. Delegates to the conference from all parts of INew Zealand, with their wives, members ot the B.M.A. in Wellington and thenwives, and more than 300 other wellknown people attended at the invitation of the president of the New Zealand branch of the Mr T. I). M Stout and Mrs Stout, so that it was a very large gathering, and one of the most spectacular that has been held in the beautiful new building. For the first part of the evening, when speeches were delivered bv Mr Hislop, Hon. P. Fraser, and the president, everyone gathered m the main gallery, where rows of chairs were arranged to accommodate them. The raised platform at one end was arranged for the speakers, members of the executive and their wives and looked very attractive with big bowls of greenery and palms m green tubs The chairman’s table had bowl or beautiful gladioli for decoration. The dais at the other end was similarly decorated, and incidental music was played from there. .. ~ At the conclusion of the president s address Sir Edmund Spriggs, K C V 0., F.Tt.C.P., said a few words and made the presentation of the Hunterian Medal to Dr F. 0. Bennett, Christchurch. . With all the womenfolk beautifully gowned and the men wearing their decorations, the scene in the well-light-ed gallery was a most impressive one. Mrs T C. A. Hislop was wearing a trained frock of black chiffon, with diamante bands over the shoulders and across the square-cut corsage, and she also wore a little cape of dyed ermine. Mrs P. Fraser was m mulberry cloque with a long vehet cloak in a paler shade and a corsage spray of mauve orchids. Mrs T. D M. Stout wore a black chiffon and lace frock with cape sleeves and two big pink flowers at the neck. Lady Snriggs was wearing a georgette frock in a soft shade of spring green, with a spray of pink flowers. Among those present, says the Dominion, were Mr D. S. Wylie, F R.CiS., and Mrs Wylie, of Palmeiston North.
