WELLINGTON STOCK EXCHANGE.
YESTERDAY’S BUSINESS AND PRICES. Activity in the stock and share markets was undiminished yesterday,. when another heavy volume of business was recorded on the Wellington Stock Exchange. The 46 sales included £IOOO worth of 4 per cent inscribed stock, 1952-55, and 45 parcels totalling 4910 shares. A feature of yesterday’s market was a welcome improvement in Bank of New Zealand shares. Two parcels were solid late on Thursday at 40s 9d. and yesterday three? parcels totalling 500 shares sold at up to 41s 3d. The market closed ‘firm at 41s 2d, sellers 41s sd. Bank of New South Wales sold firmly at £36 ss. Breweries were firm, New Zealand advancing to business 60s. Tooths sold at 57s 3d and Tooheys were done at 375. Interest was well maintained in Australian industrial and trading issues, which showed a strong front on active trading. Broken Hill Proprietary firmed to 85s 6d and more were wanted at 85s 9d. Dunlop-Perdriau advanced to business at 19s 3d. Electrolytic Zinc strengthened in sympathy with the metals market, and Mount Eyell moved up to sales at 50s, late buyers offering 50s 3d.
