RURAL RAKINGS. A stud yoar-old ram from iho flock bred by Aj r J. Pierpont Morgan, the wealthy American who has an English property- near Watford, Hertfordshire, has been bought by Messrs N. S. Hughes (Wanganui). It will be unloaded at Sydney for a period of quarantine before being sent over to Wanganui.' The ram is a pedigree Southdown, born in February, 1936. Reference to the proposed new regulations to govern, the importation of stock into IS'ew Zealand, with particular application to foot and mouth disease, was made at. a ■ meeting of the Southern Hawke’s Bay provincial executive of the Farmers’ Union. The following ■ motion was passed unanimously: “That the principle of the proposed regulations is satisfactory to this executive, as it is apparent that the regulations are so stringent that they will proi ’e for better protection than exists under llie present embargo.” • The cold weather experienced in the Waikato during the last week has accelerated the seasonal drop in bulterfat production, although .the volume of milk and cream received at the dairy factories is still appreciably higher than the ‘average for the corresponding period of previous years,, writes a Hamilton correspondent. There is still a plentiful supply of green feed available for stock. Hundreds of acres of hay throughout the district have been spoiled' this summer owing to the frequent rain. The dairy stock throughout the district are in excellent condition, and the indications point to a record, season for production.
